All about Becca
I have lived in Nottingham my whole life, and have been a keen creative for as long as I can remember. I love to adventure. Mountains are my happy place. They make me feel so wonderfully small and insignificant. They put me in my place, they make me feel safe. So, the moment I got my first car (Remmy the Renault), I made it my priority to spend as much time in the mountains as possible.
With the Peak District being so close, me and my little dog Pippa have explored all sorts of places like Kinder Scout, Mam Tor and Padley Gorge. A far fetch from the scale of mountains I one day hope to climb, but they keep the fire burning for now.
The Inspiration
My illustrations are inspired by my childhood imaginations of mystical beasts and whimsical nature scenes. I spent a lot of my childhood on the Llyn Peninsula with my grandparents, playing make-believe games of dragons and fairies. I paint to keep these times alive, using vibrant colours and warped lines.
Of course, nature must be at the forefront of my paintings. The city is a deadening place to me. It makes me feel cold and claustrophobic. My escape is nature, so if I can’t get out to the hills, I must paint them instead.
The Dream
After years of saving, me and my partner finally bought our first home. Her name is Delilah and she is a bright blue van! It has always been my dream to travel the world in a camper conversion, living off my art. It feels surreal that the first step has been made, but it is very early days. Delilah is just a shell of what she will grow to become. I’m just getting started, but I have hope that the dream will be fulfilled.
